AQA's legacy GCSE question papers

These papers will give you opportunities to use old questions with your students, but please note that the subject content, assessment objectives and weightings of these papers do not fully reflect the current qualification or the style in which questions are written.

Linked Pair Pilot

Prior to the introduction of the current GCSE (8300) we ran two linked pilot qualifications, Methods in Mathematics (9365) and Applications of Mathematics (9370). Taken together the subject content for this pair of GCSEs includes much of the subject content for the current GCSE (8300) but the assessment objectives were the same as for the legacy linear (4365) and unitised (4360) GCSEs.

Intermediate tier

Intermediate tier (3301 and 3302) exams were designed to assess grades B to E and while these are certainly not the same as the current Foundation tier exams, the comparisons drawn are understandable.

Additional Maths

The Additional Maths qualification (9306) was a problem solving GCSE. The assessment was designed to meet the requirement for greater challenge for the most able through some questions with a significant problem solving element and others which required candidates to use and apply knowledge in novel and abstract contexts.
